The City Government of San Pedro is looking for participants who will represent the City in the Folk Dance Competition which will be held on November 14, 2023 (Tuesday) at Laguna Cultural Center, Santa Cruz, Laguna.
Here are the General Guidelines for Folk Dance Competition:
• The competition is open for Dance Groups in Laguna with participants who are aged 10 – 18 years old and must have at least 2 years of continuous performance. No registration fee is charged to participants of the competition.
• The dance music and literature will be provided by the Laguna Tourism, Culture, Arts & Trade Office (LTCATO).
* Cariñosa, Subli, Kuratsa, Surtido De Cebuano and Polkabal
• Must submit a brief video of folk dance performance for the last 1 year.
• Participating groups are required to submit Certification signed by the City / Municipal Tourism Officer that they are residents of the said city / municipality.
• The group shall be composed of eight ( participants only. The number of participants shall be strictly observed.
• Music must be saved on USB only and must be properly named. There should only be one (1) music in USB.
• A maximum time limit of five (5) minutes will be enforced and corresponding one point from each judge’s total score shall be deducted in the event the time limit is exceeded. The time of the performance starts with the first note of the music or the first movement, whichever comes first including entrance and exit.
• No medley / combination of different dances is allowed.
• Music will be provided by the Laguna, Tourism, Culture, Arts & Trade Office (LTCATO).
Additional Guidelines:
1. All participants will be assigned numbers for the competition through draw lots.
2. The committee reserves the right to amend these guidelines or refuse any entry on any grounds with proper advice to the concerned parties.
3. The following items are strictly not allowed in the performance:
Sets (e.g., Risers, backdrop, tables, etc.)
Performance of dangerous choreography / routine
Use of live animals
Use of real fighting armor (e.g., sword, knife, gun, arrow, spear, etc.)
Breaking of glass, pots, etc.
Audio visual presentation or screen projection
4. Entries are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Only 10 groups will be accommodated. Participants must submit an Application Form, photocopy of ID, Certification from the City / Municipal Tourism Officer, Birth Certificate on or before the deadline.
5. Participants must be at the venue one (1) hour before the competition, which is on November 14, 2023, 1:00 pm at the Laguna Cultural Center.
6. Failure to comply with any of the foregoing guidelines will result in disqualification.
7. The judges’ decision is final and irrevocable.
Note: Those who are willing to participate may obtain their application form at the City Tourism Office, 2nd Floor of the San Pedro City Hall.
