Calling all the amateur and professional songwriters!
As a celebration of the 46th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week (NDPR), the Person with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO) organized a Hymig ng Pag-asa Songwriting Competition with a theme “Patuloy sa Paglakbay”. This will be held on 19 July 2024 (Friday) 3:00 PM at SM San Pedro Activity Center.
Following are the mechanics:
a.) Participants must be bona fide residents of San Pedro City;
b.) Amateur and professional composer, songwriter, interpreter, arranger, etc. are welcome to participate in the competition;
c.) The song must be an upbeat motivational song with meaningful message for members of the PWD sector despite their disabilities and must be consistent with the theme, “Patuloy sa Paglakbay”;
d.) The song must be in Filipino/Tagalog, with no “rap” in any part of the song;
e.) A copy of the lyrics must be submitted on 17 July 2024 to PDAO for initial validation;
f.) Only the first 18 entries will be accepted after validation;
g.) The lyrics must not include defamatory or offensive words that would ridicule the members of the PWD sector;
h.) The composition/interpretation must not be longer than 5minutes but not lower than 3minutes;
i.) The song must be an original composition in any form including lyrics, tune, beat, etc., failure to comply with this requirement faces disqualification;
j.) All songs submitted must not have been entered in any song writing competition,
performed in any event or uploaded in any social media applications including part thereof;
k.) The winning songs must be owned by PDAO and must no longer be allowed into any song competition, winners automatically lose their right to use the songs;
l.) The song entry must be interpreted/performed live on 19 July 2024;
m.) The Interpreter can be a solo performer, duo or group;
n.) No musical instruments will be provided during the competition, hence, a soft copy of the song/tune must be sent on 18 July 2024 to PDAO;
o.) Criteria include the following:
Relevance of Lyrics to the Theme: 35%
Interpretation: 35%
Overall Impact: 20%
Audience Appeal: 10%
p.) Winners will receive the following prizes:
Champion: Php20,000
1st Runner Up: Php15,000
2nd Runner Up: Php10,000
Consolation Prizes: Php 2,000
q.) Judges’ decision is final and irrevocable;
