Ang vog ay binubuo ng sulfur dioxide (SO2) gas at ibang volcanic gases, na humahalo sa atmospheric oxygen, moisture, alikabok, at sikat ng araw. Ito ay nag reresulta sa hazy mixture o ang napapansing paglabo ng kapaligiran kapag ito ay laganap sa lugar.
