HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND AREAS
Heavy Rainfall Outlook
Forecast accumulated rainfall from tonight until tomorrow evening
• 50-100 mm: Bicol Region
Forecast accumulated rainfall from tonight until Friday evening
• 50-100 mm: Bicol Region, the northern and southeastern portions of Quezon, and the eastern portions of Rizal and Laguna.
Under these conditions, flooding and rain-induced landslides are possible, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazard as identified in hazard maps and in localities that experienced considerable amounts of rainfall for the past several days.
Severe Winds
• Areas under Wind Signal No. 1 may experience strong winds (strong breeze to near gale strength) associated with Tropical Depression “AMANG” which may cause minimal to minor impacts to life and property.
• Should the weakening trend of “AMANG” persist, Wind Signal No. 1 may be lifted in some localities.
HAZARDS AFFECTING COASTAL WATERS
• Under the influence of the Tropical Depression, a marine gale warning is in effect over Catanduanes, the eastern coasts of Albay and Sorsogon, and the northern and eastern coasts of Northern Samar and Eastern Samar. For more information, refer to Gale Warning #2 issued at 5:00 PM today.
• In the next 24 hours, moderate to rough seas (1.2 to 2.8 m) over the eastern seaboards of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Eastern Visayas that are not under any gale warning. Mariners of small seacrafts are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigating in these conditions.
TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK
• “AMANG” is forecast to tracking generally westward or west northwestward in the next 12 to 24 hours, which bring its center over the coastal municipalities of Camarines Provinces before turning more northwestward towards the waters east of Quezon, with the possibility of passing near or over the Polillo Islands. A subsequent landfall over Aurora may take place on Thursday afternoon or evening. Based on the forecast confidence cone and considering the weak nature of the depression, the possibility that the depression will continue tracking more westward (i.e., slightly south of the present track forecast) over the Bicol Peninsula and mainland Quezon is not ruled out.
• “AMANG” is forecast to remain a tropical depression for much of the forecast period. It is likely to weaken into a low pressure area by late Thursday due to increasing vertical wind shear, intrusion of dry air, and interaction with the rugged landmass of eastern Luzon.
Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. Persons living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards are advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from local officials. For heavy rainfall warnings, thunderstorm/rainfall advisories, and other severe weather information specific to your area, please monitor products issued by your local PAGASA Regional Services Division.
The next tropical cyclone bulletin will be issued at 2:00 AM tomorrow.
