“The NHCP joined the City of San Pedro, Laguna in commemorating the 67th death anniversary of President Ramon Magsaysay through a wreath laying ceremony yesterday, 15 March 2024, in San Isidro Elementary School, Bayan-bayanan, San Pedro City, Laguna.
Supervising Historic Sites Development Officer Bryan Anthony C. Paraiso represented the NHCP. He joined San Pedro City Tourism, Culture and Arts Office OIC Jhe-Rico Sam Colina, Barangay San Vicente Captain Diwa Tayao, and officials from Department of Education and Barangay Magsaysay. The local chapter of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of the Philippines provided the ceremonial elements.
Through the ceremony, the city acknowledged Magsaysay’s role in its history. He helped end the Hacienda Tunasan agrarian dispute and establish the Upper San Pedro community. As a sign of personaly affinity, he planted a narra tree in the school. He unfortunately died due to a plane crash on March 17, 1957. “
