The Department of Justice (DOJ), led by Deputy City Prosecutor Benjamin R. Samson, Office of the City Prosecutor (OCP) , San Pedro Laguna, held a “Legal Skills Enhancement Training Program for Law Enforcers” for the authorities of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), at San Pedro City Hall, last February 8.
Samson discussed the over-all performance of the city prosecutors for 2015 and 2016. According to him, the OCP of San Pedro attained a rating of VS (Very Satisfactory) for the year 2015, with an investigation disposition rate of 68.82%. The success rate (convictions vs. acquittals) for 2015 is 48.98%, while 54.14% for 2016.
He showed that the unresolved cases in the 4th quarter of 2016 was only 36, compared to 2nd quarter with 117 cases.
Also, success rate for drug related cases was 38.2% (convictions) and 54.91 (acquittals).
Samson also shared some notable changes in the OCP, including – no more “pabuklat” for a fee; and better policies for a more effective administration of justice.
The team also held practical exercises as part of the training program.
